Hobart’s food and drink scene is small in size but big in flavour, creativity, and heart. From casual waterside cafés to world-class dining rooms tucked away in heritage buildings, the city punches well above its weight when it comes to culinary experiences. Whether you’re here for a weekend or you’re lucky enough to call Hobart home, you’ll find something to suit every taste and time of day.
Start your morning with a flaky pastry and strong local roast from one of the city’s beloved bakeries or specialty coffee spots. Stroll through the historic streets of Battery Point, where charming cafés spill out onto quiet corners, or head to North Hobart for a buzzy mix of brunch favourites and hole-in-the-wall gems.
By afternoon, settle in at a local wine bar showcasing cool-climate Tasmanian vintages or grab a casual pint in a historic pub with a story or two to tell. Come evening, Hobart really turns it on — from bold, boundary-pushing restaurants like Dier Makr and Fico to neighbourhood favourites dishing up seasonal produce with quiet confidence.
With passionate producers, creative chefs, and some of the freshest seafood and farm fare you’ll ever taste, Hobart invites you to slow down and savour every bite and sip.
